Books That Changed My Life
There are few things I love more than books and reading. I couldn’t tell you what it is about it, it just seems to be embedded in my DNA, like I had no choice but to be this way.
Books, and writing, are incredibly powerful. We’ve all had moments where we’ve read something that changed our life, that expanded our consciousness to a new level that there was no going back from.
There’s something so magical about reading a book for the first time. There’s also something powerful about re-reading a book. I know there are people who don’t see a point in reading a book more than once, but I find I learn something new every time I re-read it. You’re never the same person as you were the last time you read it. New things stand out to you, old things are understood on a deeper level, you catch something you had never noticed before.
It was quite challenging, actually, to write this list because truthfully, every book I’ve ever read has changed me in some way. I don’t know how reading a book couldn’t have that effect on a person. The books that I’ve included are the ones that have had the most profound impact on me. They range in genre from classics to philosophy, spirituality, and self-development. I’m quite sure there are some I’ve missed, and this list is by no means exhaustive. There’s so much more out there, and I often feel the weight of all the books I haven’t read (but are on my very, very long list!)
It’s my desire to share these with you out of a curiosity and hope that they’ll have just as much of a positive impact on you as they did on me. Without further ado, in no particular order:
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
The Archer by Paulo Coelho
Meditations by Marcus Aurelius
Letters From A Stoic by Lucius Seneca
The Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly P. Hall
Siddhartha by Herman Hesse
Autobiography of A Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda
Bhagavad Gita
Breaking The Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza
You Are The Placebo by Dr. Joe Dispenza
Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza
The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Atomic Habits by James Clear
At the time of writing this, I’m reading The Trial by Franz Kafka and following that I plan to read Tao Te Ching by Laozi (Lao Tzu). I imagine that will be one I would add to this list but I’ll have to wait to read it first!
Have you read any of these books? What books have you read that changed your life? Let me know in the comments!
